Forensic Science

This term in the Waikekewai Syndicate we have been learning about forensic science. Forensic Science involves finding clues and piecing together a puzzle, and solving mysteries left behind at a crime scene. Forensics scientist search the crime scene for fingerprints and compare them to fingerprints of suspects.

Over the past couple of weeks we have had heaps of fun completing science lessons with the teachers. We have loved being scientists and detectives! Some experiments we have done are:
Finding out the D.N.A of a strawberry
Paper chromatography
Height to foot calculations
Fingerprinting
Secret messages

Winter Sports

Journalists Emily P and Emily J went and checked out the Waikekewai winter sports at Leeston School.
Here at leeston school it is our winter sport time, and we have been given the options out of netball, rugby, soccer and hockey. Netball is taken by Mrs Ley and Ms Davison, rugby is taken by Mr Marsden, soccer is taken by Mr Paton and hockey is taken by Mrs J. We are training really hard and can’t wait until the games. Our favourite things are getting to play sport during winter time, trying new sports, and playing with our friends. We also like getting to play with our friends from different rooms. We will keep training hard so we can beat the other schools in our friendly games!!!
